Ancient Civilizations

The world is getting smaller. We've known it for awhile. The hot topics of conversation in our culture today include global climate change, the global economy, global terrorism, the global environment, world energy prices, free trade and fair trade, and a host of other issues concerning our world community. Now, more than ever, it is important to understand the history of civilizations around the world, and the impact history has on modern politics and culture. To understand the present, we must examine the past. Where we have been can determine where we will go in the future.

Much of this year will be spent examining cultures around the world. We will be looking at the past as well as the present in cultures around the world. Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas will  be our focus for the year, with the intent of making connections with the past and the present.

We will also spend some time looking at the coming election of 2008. The political season has brought some surprises and lively debate. We'll be examining the party platforms of both major parties, as well as lesser known parties entering the political ring this election.

Check this website often for information on the curriculum. Changes to the curriculum may occur as national and international events develop. We never pass up an opportunity to discuss events as they are happening.
